FAQS

WHAT ARE SASH WINDOWS?
Sash style windows are a traditional window design where the opening part of the window slides vertically to provide ventilation and fresh air into your rooms.  They can be made in a variety of different styles and are common on older houses and when people want to capture a specific look for their home. Sash windows are a popular choice as they offer a clean interior and exterior look for your home, with less of the locking mechanism visible around the frame. A FlushSash casement window fits true to its frame to give a beautiful flush appearance.  The sash closes level into the outer frame, so it sits in line, rather than protruding from the exterior brickwork of your home like traditional Sash Windows.  The result is a clean, modern, and stylish appearance.
CAN I FIT UPVC WINDOWS IN A CONSERVATION AREA?
Traditionally, timber sash windows are the preferred choice in conservation areas because of their unique character. However, if you want to replace them with energy-efficient uPVC windows, you are allowed to do so – as long as their appearance isn’t considerably different from the original design. Before replacing windows in a conservation area, you will need to speak to the local Planning Authority and Building Control, it’s important not to do anything until you have advised them of your plans. If the local Planning Authority have enforced an Article 4 direction, a planning application may be required for each replacement window, as it cannot be done under ‘permitted development’ in the usual way.
DO I NEED PLANNING PERMISSION FOR NEW WINDOWS?
In normal circumstances, you can replace or add new UPVC windows to your home without needing planning permission.  However, if your building is listed or in a conservation area you are likely to require planning permission. Typically, if you are replacing windows with a similar design, then planning permission is not required in areas where the council has not put any restrictions in place.  However, there may be some conditions that you will need to fulfil, and your local installer will be able to provide advice about whether any aspects of your chosen design require approval. In some areas, adding a bay window to a home would count as an extension, in which case, you would need to check whether permission is needed for the change.   Your installer will be familiar with local guidelines and can help you through the process of choosing windows and doors that will improve your home.
IS THERE A COST DIFFERENCE IF I CHOOSE A COLOUR ON ONE OR BOTH SIDES OF MY PRODUCT?

Yes, if you choose any other colour rather then ‘standard white’ as a colour internally or externally there is an extra cost. Speak to our team for further details.

I can highly recommend Chris and his team. From start to finish the communication from Chris was excellent. Today Jay and Jordon fitted our new front door. Jay explained what they were going to do and checked we were happy with the door prior to fitting. What a job they did, very professional, courteous and a pleasure to have working at our house. When complete Jay also explained how to look after the door. We are over the moon with the new door and really glad we went with Chris’s suggestion of anthracite grey for the interior. Can’t wait for the back door to arrive.

Wow. What can I say? This company are fantastic. Chris and his team, kept us up to date from start to finish regarding timescales from order being submitted to fitting. Price was cheapest quote I received. Others were pricing hundreds more. Very honest, reliable and friendly. I am so happy with my new door. I would recommend this company again, and again and again.

We used transparent windows to fully replace all of the windows and doors on our house. It was a breath of fresh air having had a number of quotes from other window/home improvement companies accompanied with the outdated sales pitches. Transparent came round, took the time to understand what we were looking for as well as making recommendations that fitted our requirements. No hassle, no pressure, they went away and came back with the quote, offering great value that was clear and concise. I would fully recommend Transparent windows to anyone, the work we received was quality, and piece of mind knowing I was paying the right price for the works. Really pleased with the outcome and the finish product.
